Each Fleet is a full-time, three-week residency in Lappeenranta, Finland. We run two Fleets per year.

Students, teams, and solo founders. We look for technical depth and people who build because the problem matters. No previous knowledge of defence technology or dual use is needed.

Fortress is open to citizens of NATO member countries and Ukraine. Because the programme involves defence-relevant technology, applicants who also hold citizenship of Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea or China are not eligible. All team members taking part must meet these criteria.

Each Fleet has its own theme. Before each Fleet, we work with people in the defence and security field to identify a need worth building for. Teams arrive with the area already defined and build alongside people who understand it.

We cover accommodation, meals, and transportation costs to Lappeenranta, and provide a prototyping component budget plus the software and hardware tools your team needs.

No. Fortress takes no equity and makes no claim to your intellectual property. You keep one hundred percent of your company.

Yes. Participants must commit full-time and be physically present in Lappeenranta for the full three weeks.
